We have had a very busy day today sorting out wedding stuff in Crieff! We had a quick visit to the Crieff Hydro to sort out a few details for our big day then went into Crieff town centre where we visited Tangled Up In Blue Boutique & Studio.
Tangled Up In Blue is a lovely wee shop that’s sells beautiful crafted jewellery and other unique crafts by talented artists. They have recently started doing jewellery workshops too which are becoming very popular! Baxter is always made to feel welcome and fussed over by Jenna who owns the shop and her lovely wee dog Millie who has become great pals with Baxter 🐶

Alan’s Pet Shop is also located right across from Tangled Up In Blue so we popped in there to stock up on Baxter’s favourite of doggy cupcakes and to get one for his wee pal Millie too!
After Baxter shared a cupcake with Millie it was time for us humans to find some lunch and we came across the wonderful Pura Maison! The front of the restaurant welcomes dogs and right away we were all made to feel welcome by the friendly staff. Baxter was given a bowl of water and he was especially happy to be given a biscuit too!
I cannot praise enough how yummy and filling the food was! Everything was so fresh and I got a brilliant cup of tea which always makes me happy. The cakes were just mouth watering! Laurie got a slice of lemon cake and he made sure there wasn’t a crumb left on the plate!
I think this is going to be our go to place each time we visit Crieff as there is so much we want to try on the menu. I highly recommend visiting Pura Maison with your four legged pal as you will not be disappointed.

Hi & woof to Baxter from Iona, Harris & Paddy aka #SimpsonScottiesGlasgow.
We are up in Crieff this week at the Murray Park, looking to pressure test some of the dog friendly outlets for coffee’s so your advice is invaluable.

Crieff Hydro is of course quite dog friendly, except in the main building, Murray Park is however very dog friendly, however on this visit, which is not our first we were hit with a claim for £10/dog/night surcharge. We have never been asked this before. In our opinion it is a totally unreasonable dog surcharge, especially when you are staying a week and have three small well behaved dugs. It should be a max £20, per room, one off charge for the stay. As we had booked non-refundable, declared the dogs and got an email confirming there would be no charge, then a few days later the claim, I tried to negotiate by email then phone. Sadly even exercising my best arguments and negotiate skills, they were still unwilling to go under £50 … for what …they are not providing beds, throws, bowls, food, we bring these along. As for a cleaning surcharge, I’ve never seen any evidence of extra cleaning or specialised equipment used. I’m tempted to ask to see their policy/procedure or training manual.
We don’t have any problem paying a reasonable surcharge per room, however not by dog/night as it is not a compound interest equation. We also leave the place as we found it, sometimes cleaner than we find it when we stay at dug friendly places.
What is really annoying it that we got engaged here, married, have visited and stayed with dogs in various accommodations over the years and never been charged. If they enforce this policy, and don’t change it, we won’t be back or having any further family events here … which is a huge loss of revenue when the extended family join us and book up rooms and loges plus spen a lot of money on site.
Baxter need to go pay them a visit and negotiate a better deal.
